This session was so full of love and laughter.

Seriously my stomach hurt from all the laughing.

The smiles that radiate from Maegan and Charlie when they are with their girls,

or even just with each other,

is seriously the most beautiful thing!

Grad ~ Braeden Roddick

After months of the weirdest school year ever,

the Fox Creek Class of 2020 FINALLY were able to have their day to celebrate their accomplishments.

And I have to say can we always do grad sessions in the fall because the colours are AMAZING!!

The way Braeden’s suit popped in the fall colours I knew his sessions would be one for the blog.

Congratulations Braeden!!

Because Love Is The Best Thing We Can Do

~ Ted Mosby

I love every session I do, but this one is at the top of my list.

I have been dying to do a shoot with my little brother Graham and his amazing girlfriend Steph for a while now, and while I was home this summer I finally got that chance.

These two were up for anything and were willing to help me try a new type of shoot.

I am obsessed with the way the whole session turned out.

Grad ~ Faith MacKay

Graduation was definitely a different experience for the Class of 2020.

The ceremony may be postponed till the fall, and it decided to downpour during our shoot

but we didn’t let it stop us from celebrating Faith’s accomplishments.

Faith, YOU DID IT!!

What can I say about this family except that they are amazing.

Before Mother’s Day Brit contacted me about booking a session as a gift for Teresa from all her awesome kids.

I was instantly excited about this session and knew it would be so much fun.

They decided that Father’s Day would be the perfect time to get everyone together for their session.

It was the perfect day, the weather was beautiful and the loving, kind energy this family exudes made this session so much more special.

Sweet Miss Hazel, so close to walking but still so unsure of taking those first few steps.

Watching Brit ready for those first steps, but also ready to catch her if she fell, was one of my favorite moments.

Hey I’m Crista, the creative mind behind the Crista Elise Photography.

I fell in love with photography when I was younger and we made pinhole cameras as a school project. The whole process fascinated me. But as I got older I put pursuing it on the back burner. My passion for photography was re-ignited when my husband bought me my first DSLR 7 years ago. It started out as just a fun hobby and a way for me to capture memories for my family. I slowly started to discover my self with every photo I took. Looking through the lens of my camera created a whole new perspective for me. Being able to grab a moment in time and have that moment forever, sparked something in me. I soon wanted to help others have those moments in time forever.

I am a very lovable, outgoing social butterfly, but sometimes I can be extremely introverted and want to stay inside. It takes a lot for me to be comfortable around others. I often sit in silence taking everything in, which is a lot of time mistaken for me being rude. But once I’m comfortable around you look out, my whole personality shines through. Photography helps bring me out of my shell. I become myself when I have my camera in my hand.

From family sessions to weddings, I let my clients see the real me as we share so many special moments in time together. I believe capturing those un-directed sincere moments between each other makes for the best images and the best smiles.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to show my mother how beautiful she is through the power of photography. It was her 60th birthday and I offered a little photo session as a gift. I wanted others, and her, to see what my siblings and I saw daily. The smile she had on her face that day is something I will always treasure. It was the feeling of that day that I knew I could bring the same to so many others with my photography.

Being a photographer has helped me grow so much. It can be a constant struggle for me to just let go and let the world see who I am and not what I think they want to see. I am constantly learning more about the person I am and the artist I strive to be. And I am forever grateful to my friends, family and clients for allowing me to be a part of their moments in time.

A Few Little Facts About Crista

My family is my world!!

I am so fortunate to come from a large family. I am the middle child of 7 kids…… yes I have 6 siblings, and yes the same parents lol!! For me it was like having 2 families growing up. I am the youngest of the older siblings and the oldest of the younger ones. But that definitely has not stopped us from being extremely close despite our age differences. Those 6 amazing humans are always there for me no matter what!! I don’t know how my parents survived all of us but they did.

My husband and I grew up together in the same small town in Saskatchewan. We are complete opposites and blew everyone away when we started dating 15 years ago….. oh man that seems like a lifetime ago. This year we will be married for 10 years and everyday is a new adventure.

My husband and I have been blessed with two amazing daughters, even though at times the fact that they are our exact mini-me’s can be trying. Being their mom has brought me so much joy and way more patience then I ever thought was possible.

My Hobbies.

Over the years I have discovered so many amazing hobbies that I absolutely love. Paddle boarding, archery, ladies hockey and slow-pitch are my top 4 favourite things.

Yes I play ladies hockey and no I’m not any good lol but when I moved to Hinton it was my saving grace. The amazing group of ladies I play with were so welcoming and have honestly helped me come out of my shell. I’m forever grateful that they took a chance on me.

My husband and I play slow-pitch in the spring and summer. It’s one of our favourite hobbies to do as a couple. Slow-pitch has brought us so many amazing friends and I look forward to it every year.

Paddle boarding in the summer saves my sanity. Sometimes I go out alone just to clear my mind and soul but most afternoon floats are spent with my best girlfriends laughing, talking and just taking the time to reconnect.

Archery is something I never thought would interest me but after many discussions with my hubby over what family activity we could do I decided to give it a whirl. Man am I glad I did!! Archery has become our favorite thing to do as a family. We spend hours out at the range shooting targets, and improving our skills. I love it so much that I have even become a NASP Basic Archery Instructor and help out with the local Youth Archery Program.

This is me!!
